This project is the continuity of an earlier one with the same denomination was presented to SECTyP approved and executed in the period 2016-2018. The general objective of the project is to study aspects related to the behavior, identification and cultural management of the Salicáceas under conditions of irrigation. To this end, the introduction and evaluation of the behavior of new clones and species will be continued through the installation of new demonstration plots of Salicaceae and the monitoring of existing ones. With respect to identification, we will continue with the phenological and morphological observations in the plots of UPOV nursery planted and new ones will be installed in order to increase the information on this subject. Regarding cultural management, we continue evaluating alternatives of silvopastoral models in Populus ssp afforestation in areas under irrigation in Mendoza. Three main specific objectives derive from this main objective: 1) To evaluate the response of Populus afforestation to the different alternatives of silvopastoral models; 2) Evaluate the response of pastures under the influence of the forest and 3) Estimate the production of meat indirectly based on the quantity and quality of the forage produced. With the clones, cultural work, irrigation systems, sites, etc. , more suitable will continue to develop alternative technological models of management that produce a greater increase in profitability of the crop, said technological models will be transferred quickly to the official and private sectors through workshops, forestry workshops and publications.
